“Leaves Brown” now available

My new story, “Leaves Brown,” is now available in the latest Ash-Tree Press anthology Shades of Darkness. I’ve always wanted to have one of my stories in an Ash-Tree collection, and this one in particular features a number of authors whose work I greatly admire, including Simon Strantzas, Glen Hirshberg, and Gary McMahon.

The book is available in both hardcover and softcover, and features some excellent cover artwork by Jason Van Hollander.

“Leaves Brown” is the final story in my “East Coast Mythos,” a trio of tales set in the Canadian Maritimes. It’s also the first story where I was asked to write some notes on its creation, which may be of some interest to those of you curious about the development of a story.

Either way, it’s a very attractive book with a great line-up. I hope you’ll check it out.

  4. Thanks, Simon. Same goes for yours. I don’t believe this one is in your collection. Or “The Other Village,” which I’m about to read in BNH.

  6. Yes, you’re right. My collection collects almost all my Lovecraft/Leiber/Ligotti fiction. The stuff in the Ash Tree and Tartarus volumes tends to be skewed more towards Aickman and the eerie.

  8. Congratulations. Will I be able to find it at Chapters, or is it just available online?

  10. I’m not really sure about the availability of the Ash-Tree collections. They have ISBN numbers, so, in theory, you should be able to order them from any bookstore that will do ordering. Whether or not a specific store would have the book in stock is something I don’t really know. Might be available at Amazon. I’ll have to check into that.

  14. Thanks so much for ordering, CG. You realize now you’re going to have to actually tell me who you are. All I’ve got are a couple of initials and an IP address. :)

But seriously, I think you’re really going to enjoy this collection. This is the fourth or fifth horror anthology Ash-Tree has published, in addition to the many, MANY other books they’ve put out. They are, in my opinion, the best publisher of horror/supernatural fiction in Canada.

Drop me a line once you read my story and let me know what you think.
