I don’t get out much when it comes to circulating among my horror peeps. I frequent one message board, a private one, and I don’t post very often. I read blogs and I post… well, a bit more than I do on message boards. Despite that, I’ve always wanted to contribute to the field in a way that would a) be useful, b) take advantage of my skills, and c) allow me to meet other writers and editors in the biz.
It seems I finally found a way to do that. Writer/editor Brett Alexander Savory put out a call for assistance with updates to the ChiZine website, and ended up choosing me for the role. I had to take out a few other applicants Nancy Kerrigan-style, but it was worth it.
I don’t know if the workload will be enough that I could call myself the official ChiZine webmaster (or webslinger, or web monkey), but I’m glad for the work just the same. ChiZine is one of my favourite horror publications, and Brett was one of the nicest people I met at last year’s WHC. So I’m glad to help out.
In other news, there’s a big lottery here in Ontario tonight, so I went and bought a ticket. Played a few different numbers, among them the “cursed” numbers from Lost: 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42. I figure if I win with them I’ll just avoid air travel for awhile, especially any that takes me over the South Pacific.

Oh, there’ll certainly be enough work for you to earn an official title, brother. :-)
Ex-cellent. I look forward to it. :)
Congrats! That’s really cool.
Thanks, Jeff, I’m really looking forward to it. Which I guess makes me either a horror nerd or a web nerd, or a horror web nerd. Either way, I’m happy.
Great to see you happy Ian!
Thanks, Ally!
Given Charlotte’s Frequency, I’d say horror web nerd.
Ah yes! Good show, old chap!
